-- Upgrade Work Ordered by GCGI, A Group Company of EDC, The World's Largest Vertically-Integrated Geothermal Power Provider --

No. 01

MHPS (Philippines) Inc, (MHPS-PHL) has received an order from Green Core Geothermal, Inc. (GCGI), a group company of Energy Development Corporation (EDC) of the Philippines, the world leader in geothermal power generation capacity, for the on-shore services for the rehabilitation work on Units No.1 through No.3 at the Tongonan Geothermal Power Plant. The upgrade work on the three units, each having an output of 37.5 megawatts (MW), is scheduled for completion in February 2017.

The Tongonan Geothermal Power Plant is located in proximity to Ormoc, a port city on Leyte, an island in the Visayas group in central Philippines. The original plant equipment was delivered in 1981, enabling the Tongonan facility to support its region's power demand reliably for 34 years.

Under the rehabilitation work on order, MHPS-PHL will perform the site installation works of the Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. supplied steam path and generator components and replace the three aged steam turbines and generators at the plant, where components of improved design and performance will be used and commissioned.

The Philippines is one of the world's foremost generators of geothermal power. EDC ranks as the global leader with respect to capacity of its geothermal power plants, with ability to supply 1,159 MW of this renewable energy.

MHPS-PHL, a Philippines based member of the Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Group, is a leading manufacturer of boiler components and plant assessment and services provider.
